Spider-Man Movies
Orumcek Adam Filmleri – Spider-Man appeared on the big screen with Tobey Maguire in 2002, his most iconic entry. Although Spider-Man has met with the audience in movies before, the movie in 2002 is considered as the turning point. After this movie, Spider-Man continued to appear with two different actors and completely different stories. With the later Spider-Man movies, the order of watching the movies was a bit confusing, and those far from this universe may not know in which order to protect them. For this reason, in this article, we explained the order in which Spider-Man movies should be watched. Let us warn you again: our article has plenty of spoilers.
What do We Know About Spider-Man?
With No Way Home, Holland’s continuity as Spider-Man was again unknown. Sony has already dropped that it wants to make a third installment. The Amazing Spider-Man with Garfield wouldn’t be incompatible with the ICC, as this character comes from an alternate reality, and would also provide a slight respite from Holland’s Spider-Man, who we’re sure will continue to lead (with or without approval) the role of the superhero. In mid-2022, a leak from journal Jeff Sneider de Anker turned everything upside down. It looks like Marvel is planning a fourth installment with Stan Lee’s character Tom Holland as the main character. However, the journalist assures that there is still no agreement between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
On the other hand, Sony is also interested in compressing Spider-Man as much as possible. As we pointed out, No Way Home was the production company’s highest-grossing film. But it doesn’t end there. Their license allows them to work with the arachnid character as long as they produce. Otherwise, the rights will revert to Marvel, and although they now work with them outside of complete symbiosis, that’s what they’ve been avoiding for 20 years. So, after a hectic few years working on multiple projects, it’s not unreasonable that we could see a new parallel cut with Garfield as Holland goes to rest.
How many Spider-Man Movies are There in Total?
Although the number of films starring Spider-Man is relatively high, the number of productions directly starring Spider-Man is nine. Eight of these films are live-action, and one is animation. While Tobey Maguire gave life to our famous Spider in three live-action movies, Andrew Garfield in two, and Tom Holland in all three, we watched dozens of different Spiders in the animated film. Two separate sequels have been officially announced for the animated production titled Spider-Verse. While the first sequel, Spider-Man: Passage to the Spider-Verse, will release in 2023, Beyond the Spider-Verse will meet fans in 2024. Of course, a new live-action Spider-Man movie can be made, but there is no new Spider-Man movie among the upcoming MCU movies announced by Marvel yet. However, after agreeing with Sony, Amazon announced it would prepare a series adapted from Silk Comics.
Chronological Order of Spider-Man Movies
1. Spider-Man (2002)
Spider-Man, published in 2002, entered the world of cinema by adapting Peter Parker to the big screen. The production, starring Tobey Maguire as everyone’s friendly neighbor Spider-Man and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane, offers unforgettable moments to the audience. While one of these moments was undoubtedly Spider-Man kissing Mary Jane while hanging upside down from a building, this scene also became one of the most iconic kisses ever.
2. Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Tobey Maguire’s role as Spider-Man continued with Spider-Man 2, released in 2004. In this movie, our hero faces Doctor Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), who turns into an enemy after a tragic laboratory accident. In the second film of the Maguire era, which met with the audience on the big screen after a two-year break, the epic scene in which Spider-Man saves a train from falling thanks to his spider-power and web-throwing mastery was highly appreciated.
3. Spider-Man 3 (2007)
Spider-Man 3 was released in 2007 as the trilogy’s last film, directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire. While he faced one enemy in the first movie, Spider-Man faced three enemies in this movie: The Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), Venom (Topher Grace), and a new Green Goblin (James Franco). The film, which takes place exactly one year after Spider-Man 2, is probably the most polarizing production in the trilogy. Additionally, seeing Spider-Man in his black costume was one of the film’s plus points.
4. The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
The Amazing Spider-Man, which met with fans in 2012, is the first Spider-Man movie directed by Marc Webb, starring Andrew Garfield as our web-slinging hero and Emma Stone as the spider-lover Gwen Stacy. While The Amazing Spider-Man offered an alternative look at Spider-Man’s story, it also gave viewers new information about Peter’s family. The main enemy who plunders New York in this movie is the Lizard character, played by Rhys Ifans. Lizard is a mutating scientist who also once worked with Peter’s father.
5. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is the second and final film in the Garfield era. Just like the last movie in the first Spider-Man trilogy, Spider-Man faces three major enemies in this movie. At the end of two years after the events of the first movie, Electro (Jamie Foxx), Rhino (Paul Giamatti), and Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan) confront Spider-Man to bring terror to the Big Apple. Venom and Sinister Six also appeared in the film to give clues about future productions, but these productions were shelved due to the film’s bad reviews and poor box office performance.
6. Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Captain America: Civil War is not a Spider-Man movie, of course. However, this movie shows the Tom Holland version of Spider-Man for the first time. Tony Stark recruits Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, who has already transformed into Spider-Man, and teams up with the MCU’s most influential heroes.
7. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming was released in 2017 as the first movie starring Tom Holland. The film takes place after the actions of Captain America: Civil War and expresses the story of Peter Parker’s difficulties in the high school corridors and his desire to prove to Tony Stark that he is ready to join the Avengers. However, while Spider-Man hangs out with his friends MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon), he also struggles to improve himself and end the crimes committed in the city. The character Adrian Toomes/Vulture, played by Michael Keaton in the Homecoming movie, appears as the arch-enemy in future productions.
8. Venom (2018)
The Venom movie, released in 2018, does not feature Spider-Man. However, the evil Spider character played by Tom Hardy is important in Tom Holland’s adventure, as these two almost come face to face in the following films. It is not yet known whether Venom will face Spider-Man, but one way or another, this character will play an essential role in Spider-Man’s future.
9. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is another production that follows a separate line from the main story but is worth watching. Although the film focuses on Miles Morales, played by Shameik Moore, the Spider-People who quickly come from different multiverses and enter the story form a large cast. Some of these characters are Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld), Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson), Spider-Ham (John Mulaney), and Spider-Man Noir.
11. Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Although Tom Holland’s Spider-Man character was kept in the background due to the script of Avengers: Endgame, he took part in some critical scenes of this movie. Since this movie is also the culmination of 21 MCU movies, it’s only natural that it finds a place on the watch list.
12. Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Far From Home, which is the continuation of the story of that movie, starts in New York and takes Peter Parker to Europe on a school trip. While Parker dreams of a pleasant trip away from superheroes, the universe plans different things for him. Throughout the film, Holland’s path crosses with characters such as Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), and Quentin Stream (Jake Gyllenhaal), who rights to come from a different universe. You don’t want to miss the post-credits of this movie!
14. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Spider-Man: No Way Home begins immediately after the end credits of Far From Home and is the last Spider-Man film ever released. After his and his friends’ lives are turned upside down, Peter goes to Doctor Strange and asks him to restore everything. Of course, the difficult path the universe has drawn for Peter does not end here. Because if things go back to how they were, people will have to forget that Spider-Man is Peter Parker, and Peter is forced to accept that.
10. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
In this film, Miles Morales returns for the next chapter in the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga. Brooklyn’s friendly, full-time Spider-Man faces a villain more powerful than anything he’s ever encountered. He joins forces with Gwen Stacy and a new Spider-Man team across the multiverse to fight this.
